SRS Energy, developer of building integrated photovoltaic (BIPV) products, announced that its Solé Power Tile has obtained an Intertek ETL Listing for UL 1703 certification, the industry stamp of approval for product safety. The Solé Power Tile has been recognized on the California Energy Commission’s (CEC) list of Eligible SB1Guideline Compliant Photovoltaic Modules. Designed to seamlessly integrate with mission-style clay roofing products, the Solé Power Tile is the first curved solar module in the United States to meet the requirements for this recognition.

“This is an important accomplishment for SRS Energy and for the builders, architects, and contractors who are considering solar roofing for their projects,” said JD Albert, CEO of SRS Energy. “UL 1703 certification provides our customers with independent verification that the product is well constructed and safe. This is the first building integrated photovoltaic (BIPV) solar roofing tile to visually integrate with profiled roofing and comply with national codes and standards, marking a significant milestone for the industry at large.”

The Solé Power Tile™ enables homeowners and building owners with mission-style roof systems the opportunity to reap the benefits of solar power without compromising curb appeal.
Unlike solar panels that are installed on top of your roof, the Solé system is an integral component of the roofing system. Solé Power Tiles use a flexible solar cell produced by UNI-SOLAR. The patent pending technology enables Solé Power Tiles to perform even better than bulky solar panels under high-heat and dynamic-lighting conditions. Solé Power Tiles feature light-weight polymer technology engineered tough for roofing applications. The lightweight and glass-free Solé Power Tile installs in the same manner as its clay tile counterparts and without the added expense of mounting hardware.

With innovative product development and comprehensive support, SRS Energy provides roofing manufacturers with the opportunity to brand and sell aesthetically and functionally integrated solar solutions. The result is a stylish and simple solution for steep-slope residential, commercial, and institutional applications.
