Duke Energy Renewables announced that will construct a large wind farm in Texas. Duke Energy will build, own and operate a wind farm with a big generator capacity of 202 MW.
The project called Los Vientos II Wind Power is to sell the electricity and renewable energy credits to Austin Energy.
The average amount of electricity generated by a wind farm it depends on the average wind speed of the location that wind farm is situated. When someone mentioned that a wind farm generates 300 MW it means that it generates up to 300MW.
The Duke Energy Company intends to commence construction of the wind farm this December and to start operating in 2012 as a part of generating up to 770MW of energy by the end of the year.
The first Los Vientos wind farm project will be situated in Willacy County, 120 miles south of Corpus Christi, 20 miles inland from the Gulf of Mexico. CPS Energy is to buy all of the electricity from the first phase of the project under the terms of a 25-year power purchase agreement.
