Volvo shows this summer its new diesel plug-in hybrid car V60 at Goodwood Festival of Speed in Chichester.
The Swedish automaker decided to go on sale in the UK at the end of the year at a price of £48,700 and possible with an expected discount of £5,000 from the government’s plug-in hybrid car grant scheme.
Volvo V60 seems to gather „three cars in one” and to allow drivers to switch between them only by pushing a button. With its lithium-ion battery charged between 4.5 to 8.5 hours, V60 has a range of 40 – 50 km at a maximum speed of 100km/h. The hybrid mode offers a range of 1,000km combining the electric motor with the diesel engine motor. Together those two engines give a total power output of 285 horsepower and an acceleration from 0 to 100km/h in 6.2 seconds.
A main concern of Volvo automaker is about to keep clean the environment. In the hybrid mode V60 emits 49 grams of CO2 per km. This makes it eligible for the 100 percent first year capital allowance for low emission business cars and exempt from the Congestion Charge in London.
Pre-orders for V60 plug-in hybrid car will start shortly for the first 1,000 cars, which will be delivered in December 2012. Do you intend to buy it one?
