BMW has tested a series of concept vehicles and took the decision to produce the i8 Concept series.
This looks like a next evolution from BMW Vision Efficient Dynamics as a most progressive and innovative sports car of its time.
In fact i8 Concept combines a plug-in hybrid concept with modified electric drive system from previous i3 concept that fitted over its front axle with high performance 3-cylinder combustion engine 164 kW/220 horse powers at the rear.
These two driving systems deliver an amazing performance to a sports car as well as fuel efficient of a small car.
Thanks to its large lithium-ion battery the BMW i8 Concept has a range of up to 20 miles on electric power alone.
