As a paradox of our century the poverty is growing in the emergent countries and nearly half of the world’s population has no access to electricity and relies on dangerous sources of lighting.
Now the guys from MPOWERD -Micro Power Design- a technology incubator invented Luci, a solar powered lantern.
Luci, this solar powered lantern is waterproof and collapsible, weighs just 4.5 ounces, and can be easily hung up on a wall or ceiling. It has small solar panels connected to a lithium-ion battery, which delivers enough electricity in an 8 hour charge to light up an entire room for 6-12 hours. It features two brightness settings, so the lantern’s set of 10 LED bulbs can function as either diffuse room lighting, or as a task light or flashlight.
This solar powered lantern wasn’t designed only for the developing countries. Luci is very good for camping lighting or suitable as a car emergency kit or simply to serve as a nightlight.
On the other hand MPOWERD is involved in a campaign of Buy One and Give One. You pay one ($24.95) and the company gives another solar powered lantern to a person who truly needs it.
MPOWERD also has an Indiegogo campaign conceived to raise money and to distribute more Lucis to people from developing countries.
