lightning strike electrical charges for electricity

Wednesday a group of chemists from the University of Campinas in Brazil presented theirs research at 240th National Meeting of the American chemical Society in Boston claiming they’ve figured out how electricity is formed and released in the atmosphere.

Based on Nikola Tesla discovers, the team said it imagines a device could be developed for extracting electrical charges from the atmosphere and using it for electricity.

The team, led by Fernando Galembeck, says they discovered the process by simulating water vapor reactions in a laboratory with dust particles common to the atmosphere. They found that silica becomes more negatively charged when high levels of water vapour are present in the air, in other words during high humidity. They also found that aluminum phosphate becomes more positively charged in high humidity.

“This was clear evidence that water in the atmosphere can accumulate electrical charges and transfer them to other materials it comes into contact with. We are calling this ‘hygro,’ meaning ‘humidity electricity,'” Galembeck said in a statement.

If the discovery is true, it goes against the commonly held theory among scientists such as the International Union of Pure and Applied Chemistry, that water is electro-neutral – that it cannot store a charge.

Galembeck, who is a member of the IUPAC, told New Scientist that he does not dispute the principle of electroneutrality in theory, but that he believes real-life substances like water have ion imbalances that can allow it to produce a charge.

The hygroelectricity discovery could lead to the invention of a device that is able to tap into all that energy. Akin to a solar panel, a hygroelectrical panel on a roof would capture atmospheric electricity that could then be transferred for a building’s energy use, according to the University of Campinas team. In addition to capturing electricity, such a device could also be used to drain the area around a building of its electrical charge, preventing the atmospheric discharge of electricity during storms-aka lightning. “We certainly have a long way to go and the benefits in the long range of harnessing hygroelectricity could be substantial,” Galembeck said.

  1. a water pump was used in some hydraulic mining which consisted of a large pipe placed in a stream, with a small pipe coming out the top, and some type of water operated valve that suddenly closed. upon closing the water inertia caused a large momentary pressure increase at the valve. The small pipe had a spring ball type one way valve, which let the pressure in, then when the other valve allowed the water to resume flow in the larger pipe, the small valve prevented the high pressure water from returning. These were able to produce a high pressure stream to wash gravel down from banks. I can’t remember the name, tried asking the search engines. no luck

  2. i’m currently working on a project that generates dc power and runs under it’s own power. the end product will be inverted dc to ac power thus making “usable” electricity. i am only an amature/tinkerer and have come to find i don’t know as much as i’d like to in this area. My question is that if you were to use a voltage stablizer, would the electricity i’m producing be suitable for high end electronics? i understand that there are different sine waves and patterns in which electricity is conducted…(i basically need to make sure the squares will fit in the round holes?) lol

  3. In conclusion I’m ready to put up comments on your web page once more!! For a whilst it halted working, no idea why. C-ya later on.

  4. I’m a recent grad trying to learn more about the green space and I really enjoyed reading your post. It’s definitely worth sharing!

  5. Hey, this is my first comment on ur site. I’ve been reading it for a while in my RSS reader but haven’t commented before. 🙂 Anyways, thanks for the post.

  6. I was examining something else about this on another web log. Interesting. Your position thereon is diametrically. Fought back to what I interpret to begin with. I am stock still reverberating over the diverse points of view, but I ‘m disposed to a. Keen extent toward yours. And disregardless, that’s what is thus topnotch about modernized democracy and the market.of ideas on line . I will are available back once again .

  7. It is useable idea and i show appreciation for this it helps to provide more best knives set electricity that we want so i think its a great achievement.

  8. Biggest thankies for the web site.Truly searching ahead towards browse excess. Incredible.
