Opel Rocks-e beginner of urban mobility in Germany
It seems that a new era of sustainability of urban mobility in Germany is beginning and the new Opel Rocks-e model wants to stand out in this direction.
Opel launches on the German market an electric vehicle aimed at young people up to 15 years old, who have an AM1 driving license.
The concept is intended to be distinct, an electric vehicle somewhere between scooter and car, bringing electric mobility to the package with protection against wind and rain – considering itself progressive, bold and pure, typically Opel and in tune with the zeitgeist.
Opel Rocks-e – is finally an electric vehicle
Opel thought about autonomy for this electric vehicle, of up to 75 kilometers, for a speed of up to 45 km/h. A full charging of the 5.5 kWh battery of the Opel Rocks is possible in about 3.5 hours, from a household outlet, and very funny is that the charging cable is 3 meters long and is kept permanently in the passenger door, when needed.
The German carmaker Opel is expanding its portfolio with this SUM electric vehicle, which has smaller batteries than the Corsa-e, but which almost any driver can afford, from young beginners to urban commuters.
Opel Rocks-e’s price proportional with its dimension
Speaking of the base price, for Opel Rocks-e in Germany it will certainly be lower than for a small car, and the monthly leasing cost will be similar to that of a ticket for local public transport.
From the manufacturer’s perspective, “Our new Opel Rocks is uncompromising in every way. The design is bold and pure, the dimensions are extremely compact. Our SUM works exclusively on electricity, and the price is unbeatable.
Rocks-e enables intelligent and functional electric mobility for everyone and will attract a lot of attention, ”says Opel’s head of sales and marketing, Stephen Norman. “Opel is simply ‘menschlich’ and affordable – Rocks – it provides additional evidence.”
Opel Rocks-e will be available for order online or directly from selected Opel dealers starting in the fall in Germany – additional markets are expected to follow in 2022.
Opel Rocks-e suitable for city spaces
The Opel Rocks is a small stylish vehicle that requires little space in cities. Best of all, the Rocks-e is only 2.41 meters long, 1.39 m wide and weighs only 471 kilograms, which means that it is officially classified as a light motor vehicle.
In Germany, as I said, teenagers up to the age of 15 are allowed to drive with an AM class-driving license. An appropriate amendment came into force in 2021, which means that this regulation now applies throughout Germany. The legislator thus supports the mobility needs of young people, especially for the road to school or place of study.
The new Opel Rocks-e is perfectly suited for this activity. This makes it ideal for the city’s daily traffic – not only for young drivers, but also for those who want to commute without emissions and do not want to spend a lot of time looking for a parking space at their destination. The 14-inch wheels and the only 7.20 m turning circle make the Rocks ideal for the city, dominating tight corners and enclosing small parking spaces.
Rocks stand out and by the size of the large windows; drivers can enjoy a good general visibility. A light and pleasant atmosphere inside is ensured by the standard panoramic glass roof – unusual for a vehicle in this price category. Rocks-e is available in three distinct equipment lines: Rocks-e, Rocks-e “Klub” and Rocks-e “TeKno”.
The new Opel Rocks-e is even better suited for use in cities, it is purely electric, emission-free and almost silent. Placing Opel Rocks-e on top is a nice choice, both from a conscious and from an environmental perspective.
Opel Rocks-e and tradition
The name “Rocks” has a tradition with the German car manufacturer. Until recently, Opel ADAM Rocks and Opel KARL Rocks added their own special flair to the brand – distinctly equipped, with a cool looking extra-off-road and therefore ready for the daily journey through the urban jungle.
