Toyota set a record lap time at Nurburgring with an electric car

Toyota-Electric-Car-Record-TimeToyota Motorsports Group – TMG is a division which make Toyota’s car go faster. Recently this team set a record lap time on Nurburgring Nordschleife with an electric car.

Toyota Motorsport Group worked with its EVP001 electric car to attempt this record. The electric car is heavy enough, about 952.6 kg, but 349.3 kg of its weight is a lithium-ion ceramic battery pack rated at 41.5 kWh.

 With this electric power the EV P001 electric car run with a top speed of 160 mph, and a 0 to 62 mph in a time of 3.9 seconds. The car has two electric motors which can deliver 375 horsepower and set a time of 7 minutes 47.79 seconds for 12.9 miles (20.8 km) the total length of Nordschleife track.

When compare this time with fastest lap time for a gasoline engined car like Radical SR8LM, of 6 minutes 48 seconds, you don’t see a big difference and you want to reconsider the effort of the team.

At the end, TMG shows not only the professionalism of the driver, but reveals the quiet electric motors turbine sound of this electric car which gain in importance day by day.
