Toyota-2000GT-electric-vehicle-solarThe long nose two doors, Toyota 2000 GT was envisioned as a perfect competitor for similar European sports cars, and many times Toyota has an advantage.

Toyota 2000GT was built in the time when Japan Inc. wasn’t known for its beautiful automobile designs. Its low volume coupe is a piece of automotive legend, and a good reason for being chosen as the platform for a conversion to an electric vehicle that strikes us equal parts blasphemous and awesome. The Japan’s Crazy Project has done exactly for this reason.

The standard 2.0 liter inline six-cylinder engine was replaced with a 161 horse power electric motor. The 35 kWh lithium-ion battery gives power to the electric motor and the hood has been covered with photovoltaic cells to keep the devices on. Likewise, the back glass is covered by a panel with photovoltaic cells. The lithium-ion battery system can propel this electric vehicle around 124 mph.

As was expected this 2000 GT SEV electric vehicle model was featured with plenty of tech laden gadgets. This electric vehicle version debuted at the 2012 Tokyo Auto Salon and was built in cooperation with Toyota.
